Legionella Disinfection

The disinfection of water systems is an important part of legionella control in industrial, commercial and domestic premises.
Our employees are trained to carry out disinfections of all hot and cold water systems.

Disinfections carried out conforms to the requirements of:

  • HSC L8 Approved code of practice and guidance 2001
  • BS6700; 1997-Clauses 3.1.10.2 to 3.1.10.4.3
  • DWI Regulation 31(4) ( a ) of the water supply (water quality) regulations 2000 No 3184

Water treatment

At the beginning of 2002 the Health and Safety Executive issued a new Approved Code of Practice and Guidance for the Control of Legionella bacteria in water systems (L8). Hot and cold water system’s in public buildings should be managed to ensure that there is no possibility of proliferation of Legionella or other harmful bacteria, which could pose a risk to human health.

  • SafeSol disinfectant takes around 30% less time than normal chlorination’s, so SafeSol, COSTS LESS.
  • You do not need to shut down the water system while the disinfection is taking place so a disinfection can take place during normal working days, which gives GREATER FLEXIBILITY.
  • Legionella and other pathogens tend to live in the biofilm on the internal walls of the water pipes. SafeSol removes and treats biofilm and is MORE EFFECTIVE.
  • SafeSol is stable up to 95 degrees C so is a very efficient way to disinfect hot water cylinders.
  • SafeSol is much more environmentally acceptable as it breaks down to water and oxygen.
